Barney & Barney CFO Honored with “Lifetime Achievement Award”

Aug 2, 2009

San Diego, CA - Barney & Barney’s CFO and COO, Principal Hal Dunning, was honored by the San Diego Business Journal with their "Lifetime Achievement Award". Dunning was recognized for numerous achievements, including helping the company grow at an annual rate of about 18%, seeing it through a successful merger last year, and leading company-wide training initiatives.

"Hal goes beyond what we think of as a stereotypical, number-crunching CFO. He serves as an inspirational leader to the entire company. Not only did he help lead a successful merger last year, he has been one of the core reasons the company continues to grow and thrive," commented SDBJ Publisher Armon Mills. "Beyond what he does for the company, he’s a real leader in the community. As Chair of the CFO Roundatable, a non-profit that fosters information sharing among CFOs, Hal has grown this group's membership from 200 members to over 500."

"Hal has taken the role of CFO to a new level in our company," added Paul Hering, CEO of Barney & Barney. "He is a champion for our employee base and takes company culture very seriously. So much so, that he is currently leading a months-long Core Values training program that all associates are invited to attend. It’s meant to increase understanding and adoption of Barney & Barney’s Core Values -- which include integrity, fairness, community involvement and commitment to excellence – the classes have been overwhelmingly successful. Hal is truly an amazing guy."

"The San Diego Business Journal works tirelessly to disseminate relevant business news and also promote communication forums that bring together San Diego’s business community. It is a real honor to be recognized." said Hal Dunning.
