SAN DIEGO (Oct. 2, 2009)—Barney & Barney LLC, San Diego’s oldest and largest insurance brokerage, concluded its summer-long centennial anniversary celebration yesterday evening by awarding 12 California charitable organizations—selected from incoming submissions and nominations by company employees—with grants from The Barney & Barney Foundation, which was established July 2009.

Following a morning "Caring for Community" 5K walk around San Diego Bay to secure additional donations, Barney & Barney partners joined San Diego dignitaries and local clients to honor the company and the Foundation’s charitable beneficiaries, during a gala held Oct. 1at the Natural History Museum. In just 10 weeks, Barney & Barney team members raised $260,000 to bypass the Foundation’s original goal set in July of $250,000.

As the highlight of the evening’s festivities, Barney & Barney executives individually recognized each charity spokesperson and presented the following endowments:

• - Rady Children’s Hospital—$50,000
• - San Diego Hospice—$25,000
• - Walden Family Services—$25,000
• - Neighborhood House—$25,000
• - RES Success—$10,000
• - Orangewood Children’s Foundation—$10,000
• - Community Resource Center (CRC)—$10,000
• - Marin Agricultural Land Trust (MALT)—$5,000
• - Big Brothers & Big Sisters of Orange County—$5,000
• - Mama’s Kitchen—$5,000
• - San Diego Symphony—$5,000
• - Voices for Children—$5,000

Since the fundraising campaign was announced, Barney & Barney employees in San Diego, Orange County and Oakland worked together to raise money for these charities.
