Jim O’Connell joined Barney & Barney as a Principal in 2008. As the Director of Development for Barney & Barney Programs—Specialty Insurance Solutions, Jim is responsible for both regional and nationwide expansion of new and existing programs by developing collaborative solutions that provide discernable value to carriers, broker, and the insurance buyers.
With two decades of experience in the insurance industry, Jim started as a Farmers agent and owner of his own small agency. In 1996 Jim migrated to the Driver Company (now Alliant) where he developed industry and group specific insurance programs, program underwriting operations, and brokerage distribution throughout the Western United States.
Jim is an active member of the Target Markets Program Administrators Association.
Jim holds an Accredited Advisor in Insurance (AAI) designation along with multiple broker licenses, including Surplus Lines, in most states.
