John Trask joined Barney & Barney in June 2000 and became an owner of the firm in 2005. During his career he has worked with companies of all sizes, in many different industries, and in both the private and public sectors. He has nearly 30 years of experience in both employee benefits program design and property and casualty risk management consulting. He has designed many programs for publicly held corporations, including financial institutions, regional airlines and a broad base of other industries. John has also specialized in the implementation of self-insured plans. Along with his account responsibilities, John currently serves as a Practice Group Leader in the Benefits Department.

Prior to joining Barney & Barney, John owned his own insurance brokerage firm, which was ultimately purchased by AON Corporation. While with AON he was promoted to Executive Vice President where he was responsible for managing a regional office.

John is on the Board of Directors of the San Diego Arthritis Foundation and the Arthritis Foundation, for which he is also the chair of their annual golf tournament. He has served on the Human Resources Committee of the Association of General Contractors and was on the Board of Directors for a local Independent Insurance Agents Association. John has also served in the Air Force and retired from the California Air National Guard as a Lieutenant Colonel after serving his last eight years as a Squadron Commander.

John graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology with a degree in Industrial Management.
