Terry Moore joined Barney & Barney in 1998 as President of Association Services and Insurance Brokers (ASAIB), a newly formed program, trade association, and wholesale division. A Principal with Barney & Barney since May 2000, Terry is now Director of both the Small Business and Program Divisions. He also serves as a member of the firm’s Executive Committee and Board of Directors, and manages our agency captives, acting as a resource on alternative risk issues.

Terry began his insurance career in 1972. Prior to joining Barney & Barney he was Senior Vice President of Zenith Insurance Company, and Executive Director of SinglePoint.

Terry has been honored by Independent Insurance Agent Associations in both California and Nevada as “Insurance Company Professional of the Year” in 1985, 1988 and 1989.

Mr. Moore currently serves the San Diego Better Business Bureau (BBB) as Chair of their Operations Committee, as well as the Secretary of their Executive Committee. Prior to that he served on the Board of Directors and Operations and Audit Committees of the BBB in San Diego and Imperial Counties. He joined the Board of Directors of the San Diego Natural History Museum in 2009 and is a member of their Audit Committee. Terry also represents the Natural History Museum as a member of the Centennial Task Force Committee for Balboa Park. He is a past President and former member of both the Board of Trustees of the Insurance Educational Association and the San Diego Chapter of the Society of CPCU. He has been a member of San Diego Downtown Rotary since 1988. In 2003 Terry was named a founding member of the Board of Managers of Assurex Global Partners, LLC. He is also a founding member of Assurex Global Reinsurance, Ltd. In this capacity he helped supervise the formation, marketing, and management of Assurex Global’s Bermuda captive facility. Mr. Moore has also been a member of San Diego Opera’s Corporate Council.

Terry grew up in Santa Barbara, and graduated Cum Laude from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1969, with double majors in History and Anthropology. He received his Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation in 1975. Terry is also a graduate of executive leadership programs at both the University of Michigan Business School and the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley.
